You may have arrived here if you…
· Are experiencing a loss of interest in everything, including the baby. Feeling detached from your loved ones, and a looming frustration while feeling you are unable to connect with your newborn.
· Are experiencing moments of unexplained or uncontrollable anger and rage towards others, including yourself?
· Are experiencing persistent anxiety and uncertainty, leaving you feeling on edge and like you can’t relax no matter how hard you try?
· Are feeling guilty about the stress and challenges you’re experiencing, leading you to the belief that you are letting your baby, partner, and others down?
Postpartum Depression
Postpartum depression can impact everyone differently (even dads!). Not everyone experiences feeling blue, weepy, or emotional. And when postpartum depression occurs, not everyone will experience these symptoms for the same amount of time.
The weeks and months following childbirth are an intense period of physical recovery, emotion balancing, identity-defining, and spiritual and mental growth. Your hormones are all over the place, sleep seems to be more of an idea than actual reality, and you are no longer in control of the ship. The one thing you do know for sure is that life as you’ve known it has changed.
